Shaky Cam - The shaky cam or handheld shot is used to create a realistic feeing and to make the audience feel like they're seeing the video from the characters perspective. It can also be used to create anticipation and to make the audience feel uncomfortable.

Wide Shot - The wide shot can be used to establish a location as a lot of details can be fit into this type of shot. It can also give he audience a sense of how big the location is and how the characters appear in the location.

Long Shot - The long shot can be used for shots of characters and when the character needs to be seen from head to toe. The character's full appearance can create an idea of what kind of character they are. It can also be used to subvert expectations.

Mid Shot - The mid shot can be used for character shots where their expressions are important for creating an emotional response. A mid shot also allows for other elements to appear on screen while the audience is still focused on the character in the centre.

Close Up - The close up shot can be used to help the audience understand and feel the characters expression and reaction to what is happening. It is a shot with just the characters face with no other distractions and it is usually used as a reaction shot.

Panning Shot - The panning shot is useful for creating the feeling of following the character or creating a sense of space and distance. It can also be used to create the feeling that the camera is someones point of view which could create mystery and anticipation.

Zoom In - The zoom in is useful for creating a dramatic shot of the character and how they are feeling. Zooming into objects can inform the audience on what to focus on and what the character is focusing on. The speed of the zoom in can define the emotion of the scene. A slow zoom in can be disturbing to the audience.

Tilt Shot - The tilt shot is the vertical equivalent of the panning shot, it is used to create a sense that the camera is following where the character is looking or it can be used to revile something significant that the character doesn't know of. The tilt shot can also be used as a cutaway or to create a sense of looking up into space.

360o Shot - The 360o shot can be used to create a sense of the characters surroundings. If the character is surrounded by a threat then the 360o shot might be used. It can also be used to show the location as well, from every point of view.
